One of North Carolina's largest Rescue Squads broke ground at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006 on a new 8,900 square foot, ten-bay Base Station. Piedmont Triad Ambulance & Rescue, Inc. (PTAR) is building the new Base Station near River Landing, at 2011 Sandy Ridge Road. High Point Mayor Becky Smothers and several state and local area EMS officials spoke at the ground breaking ceremony. Formed in 1971 as the High Point Rescue Squad, PTAR provides all levels of emergency medical assistance, as well as rescue service, transportation for convalescents and wheelchair-bound patients, and "stand-by" service for special events in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina. PTAR's service area includes High Point, Greensboro, Jamestown, Archdale and Trinity, and other areas of Guilford, Davidson and Randolph counties. The organization also provides transportation outside its normal service area, including many out-of-state trips. This will be PTAR's 4th Base Station, with their Headquarters Station located at 901 South Elm Street in High Point, and two other Base Stations in southern Greensboro and northeast Greensboro. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please Click HERE To See Ground Breaking Ceremony Photos!
