PTAR Ambulance Visits The Greensboro Children's
Museum On National Doctor's Day
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Piedmont Triad Ambulance & Rescue (PTAR) Emergency Medical Technicians Lorrie Hopson and Wendy Fitzgibbon brought an ambulance to the Greensboro Children's Museum's "Doctor's Day" on Monday, March 31, 2008.
They gave children and parents a look at the inside of an ambulance, let them examine their teddy bears and dolls with a stethoscope, and administer oxygen to them with a breathing mask.
Children were also given Junior EMT hats, and coloring books.
The EMTs also taught children how and when to dial 9-1-1 for an ambulance whenever someone is sick or injured.
Everyone had a great time, and the children learned valuable lessons.
About Piedmont Triad Ambulance & Rescue (PTAR)
Formed in 1971 as the High Point Rescue Squad, PTAR is a private non-profit organization which provides all levels of emergency medical assistance, as well as rescue service, transportation for convalescents and wheelchair-bound patients, and "stand-by" service for special events in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina.
PTAR's local service area includes High Point, Greensboro, Jamestown, Archdale and Trinity, and other areas of Guilford, Davidson and Randolph counties. The organization also provides transportation outside its normal service area, including many out-of-state trips.
PTAR currently operates out of four Base Stations, with their Headquarters Station located at 901 South Elm Street in High Point. They have two other Base Stations in southern Greensboro and northeast Greensboro, and recently finished building a new Base Station at 2011 Sandy Ridge Road, near River Landing, to better serve the fast-growing "Heart of the Triad" area.
