PTAR "Volunteer of The Year" For 2010
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Piedmont Triad Ambulance & Rescue (PTAR) recently announced the winner of their "Volunteer of The Year" award for 2010. The award was presented during their annual Christmas dinner, which was held on December 11, 2010.
The recipient of the 2010 PTAR "Volunteer of The Year" award was Holly Patton, who has been a volunteer with PTAR since January 12, 1989.
She served as Secretary of the Board of Directors, under the late Chief Bill Osborne, when PTAR was known as the High Point Rescue Squad. During that time, she also served as an active volunteer for about 15 years, working as an EMT and riding 2nd person on the ambulances 5–10 times a month.
Mrs. Patton has attended many seminars and training classes over the years on search and rescue, man–tracking, and high level rescue, and has been on many searches for missing persons, both on land and water. She also completed four years of State Rescue College.
She participated and competed for several years in mock practical rescue scenarios as a part of the Rescue Team representing High Point Rescue Squad at annual Rescue Conventions.
She retired in 2004 from the Guilford County Sheriff Department's Civil Process Division.
And she continues to help out as a volunteer for GOFAR Races, Drag Boat Races, and other events as specified where PTAR provides medical care for the competitors.
She currently serves on the PTAR Convention Committee for a Rescue Convention to be held in September 2011 in High Point.
The 2010 "Volunteer of the Year" award was presented by PTAR Board Chairman Gart Evans, who said, "Holly has done a tremendous job this year in helping us be successful in a lot of different areas. Just two are the Convention Committee – she is there at every meeting, and she is working with us on doing whatever needs to be done – and she was there at the Boat Races making sure that we were organized. And we are greatly appreciative of those folks who do that."
Chief Lineberry added, "Congratulations, Holly. You really deserve that, and then some."
Holly Patton resides in northern High Point with her husband, Jeff, who is also a long–time PTAR volunteer.
