Retirement of PTAR Board Member Jeanie Canter
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mrs. Jeanie Canter recently retired from the Board of Directors of Piedmont Triad Ambulance & Rescue (PTAR) following 22 years of service as a Board Member, from December 1984 to December 2006.
The announcement about her retirement was made by PTAR Chief Paula Lineberry during the Annual PTAR Christmas Dinner on December 09, 2006.
Jeanie first joined PTAR in March 1981, when it was known as the High Point Rescue Squad. She served as a volunteer member for over 7 years, until October 1988, and was certified at the Emergency Medical Technician – Intermediate (EMT–I) level.
PTAR President Dwight McDowell presented her with a plaque from the Board of Directors in appreciation of her interest and devoted service to PTAR, and in recognition of her many years of service to the local community.
Jeanie is employed at Breeden Insurance Services in Lexington, where she works as an Insurance Agent.
Jeanie and her husband Arnold reside in the Cedar Square community. They have two children, a son Jeff, and a daughter Lori.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Formed in 1971 as the High Point Rescue Squad, PTAR is a private non-profit organization which provides all levels of emergency medical assistance, as well as rescue service, transportation for convalescents and wheelchair-bound patients, and "stand-by" service for special events in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina.

PTAR's local service area includes High Point, Greensboro, Jamestown, Archdale and Trinity, and other areas of Guilford, Davidson and Randolph counties. The organization also provides transportation outside its normal service area, including many out-of-state trips.

PTAR currently operates out of four Base Stations, with their Headquarters Station located at 901 South Elm Street in High Point. They have two other Base Stations in southern Greensboro and northeast Greensboro, and recently finished building a new Base Station at 2011 Sandy Ridge Road, near River Landing, to better serve the fast-growing "Heart of the Triad" area.
