Our current Chief is Ms. Paula Lineberry. She was appointed to that position following the death of our first Chief, Bill Osborne, in March 1999. Prior to that, she had served as Assistant Chief from 1993 to 1999.

Upon her appointment to that position, she became one
of only a few female Rescue Squad Chiefs in the State
of North Carolina.

She has stated that it is very unique to see a female in a Chief's position of an Ambulance Service and Rescue Squad. "Sometimes it's been tough," she added. Her colleagues over the years have said that she has done an excellent job.

Chief Lineberry began her Emergency Services career by working on an ambulance as a volunteer in 1985. Prior to that, she had volunteered for a local Fire Department in Kimesville, and attended school in 1982 with the goal of becoming a medical secretary.

She has said that she looks forward to the future of Emergency Medical Services, and the potential new possibilities for PTAR such as obtaining more modern state-of-the-art equipment, treating injuries on the scene to avoid a trip to the hospital, and providing some health care services in people's homes.
