The N.C. Marathon event included a 26.2-mile Marathon, a 13.1-mile Half Marathon, and a 3.1-mile 5-K Run, with approximately 2,000 runners participating. Runners came from as far away as Canada, Mexico, Japan and the United Kingdom, and from 24 other States. Over 400 volunteers assisted with the event.

Preparation for the Marathon events included having extensive medical care available for almost any injury. Moses Cone Health System had their Critical Incident Support Unit (CISU) on site. A State Medical Assistance Team (SMAT) had a couple of large trucks full of medical equipment and supplies, along with
two tents, to setup a Mobile Field Hospital.

Piedmont Triad Ambulance & Rescue (PTAR) had a couple of ambulances and
about a half dozen Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) at the event.
Unit-24 is shown here in front of The Showplace building.

Guilford County EMS also had several ambulances at the event. Both GCEMS and PTAR also had ambulances staged at various locations along the race routes.
